Day #5
Voila!
Today I wore a cute pink and orange skirt (from, guess where... DI). I wore a pink undershirt with lace on the bottom with a black shirt. Black shoes to match. A clear heart necklace, clear bead bracelet, and black drop earrings. As for my hair, we have side bangs pulled back and then half up and half down and it is left curly/wavy. :) TGIF. More outfits to come Monday!

Day #4
So if you were wondering what the story is on my outfit today, here it is!
I love my pink skirt! So cute and fun! (And yes of course, it too came from the DI!). I also wanted to wear my silver shoes with bow and heel strap. I threw on a pink undershirt and a gray shirt to complement my outfit. And for accessories, I wore a big pink flower in my hair, a pink heart bead necklace, and a cute pink/black/white bracelet! The only thing I didn't quite like today was my hair. I didn't have time to run it through the hair straightener, so it ended up being fluffy and a little wavy. Oh well. Enjoy!

My Classroom
What I am up to
Just in case you do no hear from me every day, you might wonder, what does Melissa do? How does she spend her time?
Well, let me fill you in!
This week has been and will continue to be something like this:
Wake up at 5:45. Shower and get ready, take my pic of the day, leave the house with Ben at 6:50 and get to work at 7:15. He leaves me there and goes to work. This week there is no Kindergarten. Instead the students come in one at a time for a Pre -Assessment for Kindergarten. I do about 14 assessments a day and they take 1/2 hour each. My first one starts at 8 and the last one starts at 3:30. I do give myself an hour for lunch and relaxation. Testing is so repetitive and boring sometimes but so insightful into the minds of my students. Then Ben comes and picks me up and we go to our new house and do house work in preparation for us to move in. We do work from 5-9 every night. Then, my favorite part, we stop and get 50cent cones on the way home. Yummy! I work hard each day for my nightly ice cream cone! 20 minutes back to our other house and we get on our computers to finish up the day's work. Whew. Then we watch an episode of something off Netflicks (lately it has been Malcolm in the Middle) just to relax. And then 11 is bedtime!
So you can now understand why you do not hear from me every day. I am completely busy, happy, and exhausted! When do I get a massage? I love you all! Melissa (The girl who can do anything!)

Project 1 of many!
So, I hated the kitchen paneling when we bought our house. After a day of owning it and not touching it, Ben asked me why I hadn't done anything about it yet. I was so excited and proceeded to eagerly rip it from the walls! Here is a before picture with the paneling on:
Hehe, little did I know it would turn into quite the project. After the ripping and destroying was the realization that there were so many nail holes (big and bigger) and lots of mismatched drywall underneath. So I used mud/Spackle and took a day patching the holes. I let it dry for 24 hours. Then it was time to sand it down. Ben made sure I knew to put a lot on, little did I know if there is more it takes more sanding. A word of advice, go easy and make it look nice the first time around, give yourself a little extra but not TONS. Here is what it looked like after the sanding was all complete (and yes the wall color underneath was yellow):
So, you might find yourself asking what's next? Well I taped it off and painted it. I had left over green paint from my entry way (blog post to come soon) so I decided on that color for now. I say for now because this is a temporary fix until our whole kitchen remodel takes place (I can hardly wait! I've already asked and been denied permission to pry the cabinets from the walls.... I am waiting patiently for the YES!)
Otherwise this is what the final product is for now (all my labor and sore wrists for this):
When you come over (yes I know you will) you will notice the patch job underneath the color at an angle in the light. Do not be alarmed, it is not perfect, nor will it ever be, but it is done and will most likely be textured (fun project) sometime in the future and at that point will not be noticeable. I am satisfied because (refer back to first pictures) there is no more ugly paneling! YIPPEE!

Day #3
Day 3 looks a little something like this:
Cream/neutral day. Cream shirt, olive green undershirt, brown skirt (yes it too is from the DI), a fun striped vest from Ross and my cute brown sandals. I also have on brown earrings, a brown bead bracelet (sweet alliteration) and a gold heart ring. My hair is styled curly half up and half down with a clip (FOR MOM: this is what I did on Sunday too but today was curly not straight hair). And that is me today. :)

Day #2
I wore a red shirt and matching red lip color. Black shoes, skirt (from DI) and undershirt. The pin a mom made for me and it matched quite well today! Today was curly hair day pulled back on the top. For today's outfit, I give props to the skirt!
180 Days Of Melissa
Dear Blog Post Readers.
I am taking 180 pictures for the 180 days of school this year. Each day I will add a picture of what I wore. This is just so you can get an idea of what fashionable teachers look like. ;-) Also so you can get ideas on different styles that I like.
Here is the first picture:
Day 1.
Yellow flower, earrings, bracelet, ring and yellow shirt! These are paired with a floral skirt from DI. My shoes are sweet sandals that zip up in the back. And my hair has a twist in the back from the side over to the ringlet. Success? I think yes!
I am taking 180 pictures for the 180 days of school this year. Each day I will add a picture of what I wore. This is just so you can get an idea of what fashionable teachers look like. ;-) Also so you can get ideas on different styles that I like.

Hiking to King's Peak and back!
For info on King's Peak click HERE. King's Peak is the highest mountain in Utah!!!
Woke up at 4 to be ready to leave at 5, but everyone else was lazy cause it had snowed, so we left at 6.

Quite exhausting doing 16 miles uphill in high elevation.
This is what the actual peak climb looks like-its called boulder hopping!
I was so tired at this point coming to the top and I still had all the way back to base camp to go!

We did it! I couldn't have done it without Ben supporting me all the way!
So, we left our wedding rings at home, and since my finger under my ring hasnt seen the light of day in 4 years, well, it got sunburned so fast!

Every day is a different braid or hairstyle.
My knee injury where I smashed it into a rock on the way down King's Peak. Otherwise we both have a little sunburn, sore muscles, and smaller stomachs, but we're doing well! What a fun backpacking trip! And of course, WE DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
