Extra Views

Here is the view of our salamanders and there are 2 slugs on the rock.

Here is the looking down on view.

Our new pets

Benjamin, Alisha & Shane, and I went out to catch a frog last night. Instead we found something better! 2 Salamanders one on top of the other too. We are pretty sure they are mating.

Above is the female.

Here (above again) is the male with his extra long tail.

Here they are, swimming past each other.

Here they are mating. "What the world needs now, is love, sweet love."

Benjamin and I went out this morning to catch worms and slugs. Here is our catch. Man, do they tickle in my hand!

Soon we will have baby salamanders!!!!

Portland Apartment

Welcome to the Bowman apartment #2.

Below is a picture of our front door, eating area, coat closet, and kitchen on the right.

In the picture below is our kitchen with a dishwasher too!!

This picture below, is of our living room. We even have a fireplace which will be useless in the summer.

Here is our bedroom, the sun shines right in our window during the day. It is very beautiful!

Below, in this picture, is Benjamin's closet 1st door on the left, Melissa's closet, first doors on the right, 2nd door on the left is our washer/dryer stack, then you can see the shower in the middle, and on the right in the back corner beside my closet is our vanity/sink area.

Overall, the apartment is great! We also have taken advantage of the workout room every morning since we've been here and used the hot tub once.

Sometimes, I feel like I am back in PA with all the windy curvy downhill/uphill roads and cell phone reception that cuts in and out every other step. It is so green already with all the evergreen trees and the deciduous trees aren't even blooming yet, but pretty soon and then it will be even more green! Its beautiful!

My Move to Portland

So, we left Rexburg 9:30 Monday, April 13, 2009. The car was packed full and we were eager and ready to go!

Overlooking Twin Falls, Idaho bridge. Beautiful Snake River!!!!

This is the bridge. I think it is very picturesque.

There is my love hanging over the side to get a better look at the water below!

Then we made it to Oregon. My very first time in Oregon. How exciting!

Beautiful mountains here!

Then in those mountains we drove into snow and man did it snow so heavily, but only for like 10 minutes and then it was gone. If you look at the sign in the picture it says Deadman Pass, luckily we made it out alive!

Then after the mountains we came out into the plains. Very beautiful farm country.

Say hello to the Columbia River and Washington State is the other landmass on the other side of the river.

Here is Oregon, Columbia River, and Washington again.

Beautiful shot of the sun setting in the clouds with windmills on the hill!

American Flag in the sunset.

Here is the dam that stops the wonderful, big Columbia River.

Well, hope you enjoyed this picture tour across some of the lovely country we live in! Stay tuned for pictures of our apartment etc.

Lava Hot Springs & Pebble Creek

Okay, so this past weekend was amazing to say the least! On Friday, we went to Lava Hot Springs (South of Pocatello) with some friends of ours. We had dinner and then went to the springs for 3 hours. It was so hot and very relaxing! Then we came back to the little cottage and watched a movie and played some games. Then Saturday morning, we all woke up and went to breakfast, then got ready to go snowboarding. The place we went to is called Pebble Creek. So this was my first time ever going. Ben was an instructor before the mission, so he spent most of the time teaching me. How sweet! :) Then I started to understand and get the hang of it, so he went off on his own to do the big hill. I spent all day on the cute little bunny hill! :) So then I was really tired and it was also closing time, so we left at 5:30 after 5 hours of snowboarding. I was exhausted! So we all went out to dinner and then from there went to the Hot Springs again. It felt a lot hotter than the previous night! But we stayed there for 1.5 hours and then went back to the cottage to play some games. It was so much fun! Then we all fell asleep and went to bed. Then Sunday morning we ate left overs for breakfast and packed the car and headed back to Rexburg. Our church starts at 1:30 so we had plenty of time to travel and make it back. So we went to church and could hardly move. Then we came home and rested. I slept for 4 hrs and Ben slept for 2. So then our hometeachers came over, we had dinner, we watched a movie, and went back to bed. It was a great weekend! But boy am I so sore! Also, I get to travel to Utah tonight so that I can be there for the Teacher Fair tomorrow. Enjoy the following pictures and the captions are under each photo! :)

Ben and I on our way to the mountain for snowboarding!

Ben tying the shoelaces on my boot. It was so hard to do and I had my mittens on already.

Me standing on my board with the mountain behind me.

Me going down the bunny hill!

Look at my knees bent just right! :) What a beginner I am!

Ben is just so excited that I'm getting the hang of it! He's like hooray!!!! He was a very motivational instructor!

There's me sitting on the hill taking a break. It is a lot of work, using muscles never used before, to go down the hill on a board.

There is Benjamin all the way at the top of the hill getting ready to go down, while I'm all the way at the bottom.

Us relaxing in the Lava Hot Springs pools.

Benjamin & Britney Snarr and then me and Benjamin (From L-R). They are new friends of ours and have only been married for 3 months now. How cute!

So, it was a very fun weekend, but we are so sore now! Ouch, here's a picture of just how sore:

This is a picture of my sunburn on my face and on my elbow is a nasty bruise. On the way to the car after snowboarding I slipped on some ice and landed on my back and elbow. Therefore the bruise and my sore back. Thank goodness for advil!
